Photo essay: Life in the fast lane
By Jason Johnson

Americans have always had a love affair with automobiles. Life is a highway, and we drive it with passion, power and as many ponies as we can afford.

Here's photo intern Jason Johnson's photo and editorial take on some new cars.

Pontiac's G8 is sleek, powerful, seductive and comfortable for the whole family. It's an American car with European styling and luxury.

For modern-day muscle, no car screams attitude and "look at me" like the new Dodge Challenger.

The Sky by Saturn has an aggressive distinctive styling all its own and it's fun, sexy and affordable.

When it comes to top-of-the-line SUVs, the Cadillac Escalade offers the ultimate premium experience, and it even comes as a hybrid. The profile, with a sweeping front clip and strong contours, is unmistakable.

Perhaps no car exemplifies American-made like the Chevrolet Corvette. Dressed up in Z06 package sporting 505 ponies - Car and Driver says it can go from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds. The Corvette is a no-brainer for raw, unbridled attitude and sex appeal.
