Impressions of the Windy City
By Tim Murphy

Freelance photographer Tim Murphy of Springfield takes us up Interstate 55 this month for a photo essay of the Windy City. His images show the unique Millennium Park, the iconic John Hancock Center and more of the heart of the city. Here's Tim take on the experience:

"I have such fond memories of visiting Chicago as a child. My grandmother lived in the suburbs and worked downtown. For summer vacations, my parents would pack up the four kids in the Volkswagen Bus and take the long trip from southeast Iowa to the big city, braving cries for another bathroom stop, lots of singing, sibling bickering and too many 'Are we there yets?' to count. It was worth it to see Grandma and Chicago.

"Trips to Chicago as an adult always remind me of those wonderful early experiences, especially when taking the time to photograph its architecture, all the people on the move and tourists taking in the sights. I think black and white captures the city's beauty and history. I hope you enjoy this slice of the Windy City and that it inspires your own trip up Interstate 55."
